MONA NAMER

Mona Namér is a Moroccan-Swedish dancer, choreographer, and creative director based in Stockholm. With roots in Hip Hop. House, and Contemporary dance, she trained at Broadway Dance Center in New York and has built a global presence in Paris, Johannesburg, London and New York. Her work blends motion and visual art to explore identity, surrealism, and movement as a tool for communication.

As a movement director, Monas expertise includes composition, guiding the energy on set, and coaching models, actors, and kids. As a choreographer, Mona's work spans across genres including fashion campaigns, music videos, commercials, stills, and casting dancers and models.

Mona merges her experience and breadth of knowledge and uses them to create a repertoire of new expressive narratives in movement and visual art. She is active in different fields such as dance and film productions, theatre, directing, teaching, commercial work, photography and various artistic projects. Her work explores identity, human behaviour, surrealism and rituals. Mona’s innate curiousity and desire to experiment with different forms of creative expression have led to collaboration and work with lauded artists, companies and celebrated festivals such as Little Dragon, IKEA, VOLVO, Afropunk Festival, La Villette Paris, Kampnagel Hamburg and Gothenburg Opera. ​


Recently Mona directed the short film ‘A Bath In My Mother’s Womb’ with musical score by Little Dragon - that premiered at Gothenburg Film Festival 2022, won Best Experimental Short at New Generation Indie Film Awards in Los Angeles and earned a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her new film ‘Hawa’ was just screened at TATE Modern In London.
